It's Rainy in Paris.
I made it! In the hour that I’ve been here, I’ve discovered that:
1) due to my inadequate American education, I have to repeatedly translate 24h time into the regular hours I understand,
2) everyone speaks French to you, whether you look French or not, so I just nod and smile (I have a feeling I’m going to be encountering a lot of this in my time in Europe),
3) turbulence is the most unsettling thing EVER (I guess I learned this in the air, and not while i’ve been here).
I’m reluctant, and even embarrassed, to use my sub-par French, even just to say “merci.” I have a feeling it’s going to take me a bit to feel settled in my surroundings.
On the flight, I had a whole bevy of movies to choose from, so I watched “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” and “Coraline,” and part of some Renée Zellweger romantic comedy that I’ve never heard of, and stopped mid-way through. When my attention span was feeling short, I watched a couple episodes of Friends, but the thing I hate about that is they only have two episodes, so I never found out if Rachel goes to Paris for that job or not!! Oh, another thing that’s weird about all the viewing options were that they were super Franco-centric in some aspect. The two episodes of Friends had Joey learning French, and Rachel possibly going to France. Coincidence?
My next flight is at 15:45 (ha!), so I have a few hours to kill in this musty, humid terminal. I’m too much of a cheapskate (or am I?) to shell out the 6 euros for half an hour of internet time, so I’m going to be posting this retroactively when I do have internet access again. Almost there.
